Welcome to the Giddings Lab Website. The Giddings lab is located in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Microbiology & Immunology. We are also affiliated with the Joint NC State/UNC Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Our lab focuses on an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach to studying both microbial and eukaryotic systems (some might even call it Systems Biology). We start from a strong basis in bioinformatics, combining that with lab work in proteomics, metabolomics, and related areas to study and model cellular systems.
Major projects include:
• A systems-biology examination of evolution in bacteria, applied to the development of antibiotic resistance in E. Coli
• The development of methods to link proteomic data directly to genomic information
• Modeling of the bacterial chemotaxis pathway
